| Educational Opportunities Sunday School for All Ages (Sept. - May) At Bethlehem: Sunday, 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. At St. John: Sunday, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. This Christian Education hour is designed for the whole family to grow together in their faith life. The various classes range from 3-year-olds through to adults. Each day, all the classes (uexcept for the Adult class, which usually goes chapter by chapter through a book of the Bible) study the same Scriptures, so families can talk together about what we learned today. Midweek Bible study Wednesday morning, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at St. John and Wednesday evening, 7:45 p.m. - 8:45 a.m. at St. John Designed primarily for adults, this Evening Bible study is conducted in a discussion format. There is no Bible Study during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Go to our Bible Study page. Vacation Bible School Traditionally held the first full week of July which does not include July 4th. Our 2008 VBS was held on July 7 - 11, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon It's early yet... but you're invited to come be a part of VBS fun next summer... Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a week-long event in summer, for 3-years-olds through 7th graders (those going into 7th grade). Its goal is to share the Good News of Christ Crucified with kids in a fun, educational, and interactive environment. Last year's theme was: "Friendship Quest" Further information on 2009 (tentative theme: "G.A.D.G.E.T.'s Garage") is pending, but feel free to check out last summer's 2008 V.B.S. pages. Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School School year, September-June Providing Christian education for 9th through 12th grade, W.V.L.H.S. is located in nearby Mosinee, WI and is operated by an association of local LC-MS congregations, of which St. John is a member. Trinity Lutheran School School year, September-June Providing Christian education for Kindergarten through 8th grade, Trinity is located in nearby Athens, WI and is owned and operated by a sister LC-MS congregation: Trinity Lutheran Church. Youth Confirmation Instruction Year 1 (6th grade): once a month on Sunday afternoons, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Years 2 and 3 (7th-8th grade): Wednesday nights, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The basic introduction to the teachings of the church. This Confirmation curriculum builds on the basis built up from Sunday School. Successfull completion of the course results in Confirmation and communicant membership in the congregation. The basic textbooks are the Bible and Martin Luther's Small Catechism. This is a personalized individual class, designed to proceed at whatever pace the student is comfortable with. The basic textbooks are the Bible and Martin Luther's Small Catechism. Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) 1:30 p.m. first Wednesday of the month at Bethlehem 1:30 p.m. first Thursday of the month at St. John The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), is the official women's organization of The LC-MS. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. The LWML focuses on... Richer Spiritual Living, Global Awareness for Ministry, and Avenues for God-blessed Service. For more information, visit LWML (off-site link). Junior High Youth Group and High School Youth Groups Year-round; generally Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The two youth groups sometimes meet together for activities, but usually meet separately. At least once a month we meet to study the Bible together. All youth in ages 6th through 12th grade are welcome, regardless of Christian background or church affiliation. Summer camps are available for children of all ages. Leadership opportunities are available also for high-school aged youth. | Christian Education is an important part of what we do here at Bethlehem and St. John. It is important that Christians of all ages, from infants through to adults be given the opportunity to grow in their faith through study of God's Word. God's Word is one of those means of grace whereby which the Lord has given to his Church. |
